What a fun day!

It was beautiful here today! Knowing that it was going to rain tomorrow, we decided to spend the day outside getting things done. This was our first official day of working on the yard for the year. Hubby cleaned out the garage and shed, and got the lawn mower going to give the kids rides in the trailer :o) When P saw him coming with the trailer across the yard she stood up in her wagon and just about fell out because she was so excited, lol.
I raked, shoveled, and planted strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and rheubarb. I mowed part of the yard, set up the lawn sprinklers, cleaned up and put away all the winter stuff, and planted some planters with flower seeds with the kids. We also filled the bird feeders and got them hung up. We're hoping that if we gets lots of birds we won't have so many bees. I transplanted a plant of mine that is way to big for the pot, since I was making dirt messes anyways :o)
I was a great time. The kids did SO good. We skipped J's nap because neither of us wanted to stay inside for 2 hours while he slept. All of the kids played so nice and the older 2 did a great job of helping watch out for the younger 2.
Now I need to hunt down some alfalfa or naturally grown hay or straw for the garden.

  1. That sounds like a very productive day! We've got blueberry and strawberries in from last year, and I'm hoping to get a good crop. You might try calling your local organic farms for the alfalfa or straw-- often times they'll have extra if they grow their own hay, and some of them have fantastic compost too.
